The IVF Laboratory
The Laboratory for Assisted Reproductive Technology at Houston Fertility Specialists is the longest ongoing in vitro fertilization program in the greater Houston area, and is the first program in the Southwest to be certified by the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology and the College of American Pathologists.
In the past three decades, new developments in reproductive technology have greatly expanded our ability to help couples who have not conceived following the conventional evaluation and treatment of infertility. Our laboratory is involved in ongoing research to increase your chance of achieving pregnancy. In fact, our program has presented and published more than 100 studies, which have appeared at international meetings and in journals.
We are leaders in elective single-embryo transfer, eSET, and have the lowest multiple pregnancy rate and the highest eSET rate in Houston. Our eSET rate is three-times the national average, which puts us at the forefront of innovation in IVF. We are proud to have one of the lowest multiple pregnancy rates in the United States.
All procedures are performed in our private outpatient center located within Houston Fertility Specialists on the campus of The Woman’s Hospital of Texas. Our patients are given the option of conscious sedation or full anesthesia. Our experienced nursing team is there to support and care for our patients during their procedures.
Our laboratory director has a Ph.D in reproductive biology and is certified as a High Complexity Clinical Lab Director (HCLD) by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB). He is also certified as Andrology Laboratory Director (ALD), Embryology Laboratory Director (ELD), and Clinical Consultant (CC) by ABB. Our team of embryologists are highly skilled in the field of reproductive medicine. They hold bachelor of science degrees and Ph.Ds and frequently attend seminars.
Many of our IVF laboratory employees have worked for HFS for many years. The nursing staff says their favorite thing is when patients bring their babies back for a visit.
“We’re like family. It’s so rewarding to see the outcome!”
Our physicians perform procedures in our IVF laboratory every day of the year, even on holidays, with the exception of two weeks in December when we close for cleaning and lab maintenance.
